Sura 28 Al-Qasas (The Stories), ayah 9

  1. وَقَالَتِ امْرَأَتُ فِرْعَوْنَ قُرَّتُ عَيْنٍ لِي وَلَكَ ۖ لَا تَقْتُلُوهُ عَسَىٰ أَنْ يَنْفَعَنَا أَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُ وَلَدًا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

    Translation by words

    وَقَالَتِ
    And said
    ٱمْرَأَتُ
    (the) wife
    فِرْعَوْنَ
    (of) Firaun,
    قُرَّتُ
    "A comfort
    عَيْنٍ
    (of the) eye
    لِّى
    for me
    وَلَكَ
    and for you;
    لَا
    (Do) not
    تَقْتُلُوهُ
    kill him;
    عَسَىٰٓ
    perhaps
    أَن
    (that)
    يَنفَعَنَآ
    he may benefit us,
    أَوْ
    or
    نَتَّخِذَهُۥ
    we may take him
    وَلَدًا
    (as) a son."
    وَهُمْ
    And they
    لَا
    (did) not
    يَشْعُرُونَ
    perceive.

    And the wife of Pharaoh said, "(He will be) a comfort of the eye for me and for you. Do not kill him; perhaps he may benefit us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceived not.
