Sura 28 Al-Qasas (The Stories), ayah 79
-
فَخَرَجَ عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ فِي زِينَتِهِ ۖ قَالَ الَّذِينَ يُرِيدُونَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا يَا لَيْتَ لَنَا مِثْلَ مَا أُوتِيَ قَارُونُ إِنَّهُ لَذُو حَظٍّ عَظِيمٍ
Translation by words
- فَخَرَجَ
- So he went forth
- عَلَىٰ
- to
- قَوْمِهِۦ
- his people
- فِى
- in
- زِينَتِهِۦ
- his adornment.
- قَالَ
- Said
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- يُرِيدُونَ
- desire
- ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ
- the life
- ٱلدُّنْيَا
- (of) the world,
- يَٰلَيْتَ
- "O! Would that
- لَنَا
- for us
- مِثْلَ
- (the) like
- مَآ
- (of) what
- أُوتِىَ
- has been given
- قَٰرُونُ
- (to) Qarun.
- إِنَّهُۥ
- Indeed, he
- لَذُو
- (is the) owner
- حَظٍّ
- (of) fortune
- عَظِيمٍ
- great."
So he came out before his people in his adornment. Those who desired the worldly life said, "Oh, would that we had like what was given to Qarun. Indeed, he is one of great fortune."
28:79
