Sura 29 Al-'Ankabut (The Spider), ayah 8
-
وَوَصَّيْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ بِوَالِدَيْهِ حُسْنًا ۖ وَإِنْ جَاهَدَاكَ لِتُشْرِكَ بِي مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ فَلَا تُطِعْهُمَا ۚ إِلَيَّ مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَأُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
Translation by words
- وَوَصَّيْنَا
- And We have enjoined
- ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ
- (on) man
- بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ
- goodness to his parents,
- حُسْنًا
- goodness to his parents,
- وَإِن
- but if
- جَٰهَدَاكَ
- they both strive against you
- لِتُشْرِكَ
- to make you associate
- بِى
- with Me
- مَا
- what
- لَيْسَ
- not
- لَكَ
- you have
- بِهِۦ
- of it
- عِلْمٌ
- any knowledge,
- فَلَا
- then (do) not
- تُطِعْهُمَآ
- obey both of them.
- إِلَىَّ
- To Me
- مَرْجِعُكُمْ
- (is) your return,
- فَأُنَبِّئُكُم
- and I will inform you
- بِمَا
- about what
- كُنتُمْ
- you used
- تَعْمَلُونَ
- (to) do.
And We have enjoined upon man goodness to parents. But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me is your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do.
29:8
Translation: Saheeh International
