Sura 2 Al-Baqarah (The Cow), ayah 55

  1. وَإِذْ قُلْتُمْ يَا مُوسَىٰ لَنْ نُؤْمِنَ لَكَ حَتَّىٰ نَرَى اللَّهَ جَهْرَةً فَأَخَذَتْكُمُ الصَّاعِقَةُ وَأَنْتُمْ تَنْظُرُونَ

    Translation by words

    وَإِذْ
    And when
    قُلْتُمْ
    you said,
    يَٰمُوسَىٰ
    "O Musa!
    لَن
    Never
    نُّؤْمِنَ
    (will) we believe
    لَكَ
    in you
    حَتَّىٰ
    until
    نَرَى
    we see
    ٱللَّهَ
    Allah
    جَهْرَةً
    manifestly."
    فَأَخَذَتْكُمُ
    So seized you
    ٱلصَّٰعِقَةُ
    the thunderbolt
    وَأَنتُمْ
    while you
    تَنظُرُونَ
    (were) looking.

    And (recall) when you said, "O Moses, we will never believe you until we see Allah outright"; so the thunderbolt took you while you were looking on.
