Sura 3 Ali 'Imran (Family of Imran), ayah 47
-
قَالَتْ رَبِّ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لِي وَلَدٌ وَلَمْ يَمْسَسْنِي بَشَرٌ ۖ قَالَ كَذَٰلِكِ اللَّهُ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاءُ ۚ إِذَا قَضَىٰ أَمْرًا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُ كُنْ فَيَكُونُ
Translation by words
- قَالَتْ
- She said,
- رَبِّ
- "My Lord
- أَنَّىٰ
- how
- يَكُونُ
- is [it]
- لِى
- for me
- وَلَدٌ
- a boy,
- وَلَمْ
- and (has) not
- يَمْسَسْنِى
- touch(ed) me
- بَشَرٌ
- any man?"
- قَالَ
- He said,
- كَذَٰلِكِ
- "Thus
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- يَخْلُقُ
- creates
- مَا
- what
- يَشَآءُ
- He wills.
- إِذَا
- When
- قَضَىٰٓ
- He decrees
- أَمْرًا
- a matter
- فَإِنَّمَا
- then only
- يَقُولُ
- He says
- لَهُۥ
- to it,
- كُن
- "Be,"
- فَيَكُونُ
- and it becomes.
She said, "My Lord, how will I have a child when no man has touched me?" (The angel) said, "Such is Allah; He creates what He wills. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is.
