Sura 40 Ghafir (The Forgiver), ayah 47
-
وَإِذْ يَتَحَاجُّونَ فِي النَّارِ فَيَقُولُ الضُّعَفَاءُ لِلَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا إِنَّا كُنَّا لَكُمْ تَبَعًا فَهَلْ أَنْتُمْ مُغْنُونَ عَنَّا نَصِيبًا مِنَ النَّارِ
Translation by words
- وَإِذْ
- And when
- يَتَحَآجُّونَ
- they will dispute
- فِى
- in
- ٱلنَّارِ
- the Fire,
- فَيَقُولُ
- then will say
- ٱلضُّعَفَٰٓؤُا۟
- the weak
- لِلَّذِينَ
- to those who
- ٱسْتَكْبَرُوٓا۟
- were arrogant,
- إِنَّا
- "Indeed, we
- كُنَّا
- [we] were
- لَكُمْ
- for you
- تَبَعًا
- followers,
- فَهَلْ
- so can
- أَنتُم
- you
- مُّغْنُونَ
- avert
- عَنَّا
- from us
- نَصِيبًا
- a portion
- مِّنَ
- of
- ٱلنَّارِ
- the Fire?"
And (mention) when they will argue within the Fire, and the weak will say to those who had been arrogant, "Indeed, we were (only) your followers, so will you relieve us of a share of the Fire?"
