Sura 6 Al-An'am (The Cattle), ayah 56

1. قُلْ إِنِّي نُهِيتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ الَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ ۚ قُلْ لَا أَتَّبِعُ أَهْوَاءَكُمْ ۙ قَدْ ضَلَلْتُ إِذًا وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُهْتَدِينَ

   Translation by words

   قُلْ

   Say,

   إِنِّى

   "Indeed I

   نُهِيتُ

   [I] am forbidden

   أَنْ

   that

   أَعْبُدَ

   I worship

   ٱلَّذِينَ

   those whom

   تَدْعُونَ

   you call

   مِن

   from

   دُونِ

   besides

   ٱللَّهِ

   Allah."

   قُل

   Say,

   لَّآ

   "Not

   أَتَّبِعُ

   I follow

   أَهْوَآءَكُمْ

   your (vain) desires,

   قَدْ

   certainly

   ضَلَلْتُ

   I would go astray

   إِذًا

   then,

   وَمَآ

   and not

   أَنَا۠

   I (would be)

   مِنَ

   from

   ٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ

   the guided-ones."

   Say, "Indeed, I have been forbidden to worship those you invoke besides Allah." Say, "I will not follow your desires, for I would then have gone astray, and I would not be of the (rightly) guided."
