Sura 71 Nuh ((The Prophet) Nooh), ayah 7
-
وَإِنِّي كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوا أَصَابِعَهُمْ فِي آذَانِهِمْ وَاسْتَغْشَوْا ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا اسْتِكْبَارًا
Translation by words
- وَإِنِّى
- And indeed, I
- كُلَّمَا
- every time,
- دَعَوْتُهُمْ
- I invited them
- لِتَغْفِرَ
- that You may forgive
- لَهُمْ
- them,
- جَعَلُوٓا۟
- they put
- أَصَٰبِعَهُمْ
- their fingers
- فِىٓ
- in
- ءَاذَانِهِمْ
- their ears
- وَٱسْتَغْشَوْا۟
- and covered themselves
- ثِيَابَهُمْ
- (with) their garments
- وَأَصَرُّوا۟
- and persisted
- وَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟
- and were arrogant
- ٱسْتِكْبَارًا
- (with) pride.
And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with (great) arrogance.
71:7
Translation: Saheeh International
