Sura 9 At-Tawbah (The Repentance), ayah 37
-
إِنَّمَا النَّسِيءُ زِيَادَةٌ فِي الْكُفْرِ ۖ يُضَلُّ بِهِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يُحِلُّونَهُ عَامًا وَيُحَرِّمُونَهُ عَامًا لِيُوَاطِئُوا عِدَّةَ مَا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ فَيُحِلُّوا مَا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ ۚ زُيِّنَ لَهُمْ سُوءُ أَعْمَالِهِمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْكَافِرِينَ
Translation by words
- إِنَّمَا
- Indeed,
- ٱلنَّسِىٓءُ
- the postponing
- زِيَادَةٌ
- (is) an increase
- فِى
- in
- ٱلْكُفْرِ
- the disbelief,
- يُضَلُّ
- are led astray
- بِهِ
- by it
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- كَفَرُوا۟
- disbelieve.
- يُحِلُّونَهُۥ
- They make it lawful
- عَامًا
- one year
- وَيُحَرِّمُونَهُۥ
- and make it unlawful
- عَامًا
- (another) year,
- لِّيُوَاطِـُٔوا۟
- to adjust
- عِدَّةَ
- the number
- مَا
- which
- حَرَّمَ
- Allah has made unlawful
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah has made unlawful
- فَيُحِلُّوا۟
- and making lawful
- مَا
- what
- حَرَّمَ
- Allah has made unlawful.
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah has made unlawful.
- زُيِّنَ
- Is made fair-seeming
- لَهُمْ
- to them
- سُوٓءُ
- (the) evil
- أَعْمَٰلِهِمْ
- (of) their deeds.
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- لَا
- (does) not
- يَهْدِى
- guide
- ٱلْقَوْمَ
- the people -
- ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
- the disbelievers.
Indeed, the postponing (of restriction within sacred months) is an increase in disbelief by which those who have disbelieved are led (further) astray. They make it lawful one year and unlawful another year to correspond to the number made unlawful by Allah and (thus) make lawful what Allah has made unlawful. Made pleasing to them is the evil of their deeds; and Allah does not guide the disbelieving people.
