Sura 9 At-Tawbah (The Repentance), ayah 77
-
فَأَعْقَبَهُمْ نِفَاقًا فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يَلْقَوْنَهُ بِمَا أَخْلَفُوا اللَّهَ مَا وَعَدُوهُ وَبِمَا كَانُوا يَكْذِبُونَ
Translation by words
- فَأَعْقَبَهُمْ
- So He penalized them
- نِفَاقًا
- (with) hypocrisy
- فِى
- in
- قُلُوبِهِمْ
- their hearts
- إِلَىٰ
- until
- يَوْمِ
- the day
- يَلْقَوْنَهُۥ
- when they will meet Him,
- بِمَآ
- because
- أَخْلَفُوا۟
- they broke
- ٱللَّهَ
- (the covenant with) Allah
- مَا
- what
- وَعَدُوهُ
- they had promised Him,
- وَبِمَا
- and because
- كَانُوا۟
- they used to
- يَكْذِبُونَ
- lie.
So He penalized them with hypocrisy in their hearts until the Day they will meet Him - because they failed Allah in what they promised Him and because they (habitually) used to lie.
9:77
