Sura 9 At-Tawbah (The Repentance), ayah 9

  1. اشْتَرَوْا بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا فَصَدُّوا عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ سَاءَ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ

    Translation by words

    ٱشْتَرَوْا۟
    They exchange
    بِـَٔايَٰتِ
    [with] the Verses of Allah
    ٱللَّهِ
    [with] the Verses of Allah
    ثَمَنًا
    (for) a little price,
    قَلِيلًا
    (for) a little price,
    فَصَدُّوا۟
    and they hinder (people)
    عَن
    from
    سَبِيلِهِۦٓ
    His way.
    إِنَّهُمْ
    Indeed,
    سَآءَ
    evil
    مَا
    (is) what
    كَانُوا۟
    they used to
    يَعْمَلُونَ
    do.

    They have exchanged the signs of Allah for a small price and averted (people) from His way. Indeed, it was evil that they were doing.
