Sura 19 Maryam, ayah 23

1. فَأَجَاءَهَا الْمَخَاضُ إِلَىٰ جِذْعِ النَّخْلَةِ قَالَتْ يَا لَيْتَنِي مِتُّ قَبْلَ هَٰذَا وَكُنْتُ نَسْيًا مَنْسِيًّا

   Translation by words

   فَأَجَآءَهَا

   Then drove her

   ٱلْمَخَاضُ

   the pains of childbirth

   إِلَىٰ

   to

   جِذْعِ

   (the) trunk

   ٱلنَّخْلَةِ

   (of) the date-palm.

   قَالَتْ

   She said,

   يَٰلَيْتَنِى

   "O! I wish

   مِتُّ

   I (had) died

   قَبْلَ

   before

   هَٰذَا

   this

   وَكُنتُ

   and I was

   نَسْيًا

   (in) oblivion,

   مَّنسِيًّا

   forgotten."

   And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "Oh, I wish I had died before this and was in oblivion, forgotten."
