Sura 28 Al-Qasas (The Stories), ayah 55

  1. وَإِذَا سَمِعُوا اللَّغْوَ أَعْرَضُوا عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا لَنَا أَعْمَالُنَا وَلَكُمْ أَعْمَالُكُمْ سَلَامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ لَا نَبْتَغِي الْجَاهِلِينَ

    Translation by words

    وَإِذَا
    And when
    سَمِعُوا۟
    they hear
    ٱللَّغْوَ
    vain talk,
    أَعْرَضُوا۟
    they turn away
    عَنْهُ
    from it
    وَقَالُوا۟
    and say,
    لَنَآ
    "For us
    أَعْمَٰلُنَا
    our deeds
    وَلَكُمْ
    and for you
    أَعْمَٰلُكُمْ
    your deeds.
    سَلَٰمٌ
    Peace (be)
    عَلَيْكُمْ
    on you;
    لَا
    not
    نَبْتَغِى
    we seek
    ٱلْجَٰهِلِينَ
    the ignorant."

    And when they hear ill speech, they turn away from it and say, "For us are our deeds, and for you are your deeds. Peace will be upon you; we seek not the ignorant."
