Sura 2 Al-Baqarah (The Cow), ayah 13

  1. وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ آمِنُوا كَمَا آمَنَ النَّاسُ قَالُوا أَنُؤْمِنُ كَمَا آمَنَ السُّفَهَاءُ ۗ أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ السُّفَهَاءُ وَلَٰكِنْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

    Translation by words

    وَإِذَا
    And when
    قِيلَ
    it is said
    لَهُمْ
    to them,
    ءَامِنُوا۟
    "Believe
    كَمَآ
    as
    ءَامَنَ
    believed
    ٱلنَّاسُ
    the people,"
    قَالُوٓا۟
    they say,
    أَنُؤْمِنُ
    "Should we believe
    كَمَآ
    as
    ءَامَنَ
    believed
    ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ
    the fools?"
    أَلَآ
    Beware,
    إِنَّهُمْ
    certainly they
    هُمُ
    themselves
    ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ
    (are) the fools
    وَلَٰكِن
    [and] but
    لَّا
    not
    يَعْلَمُونَ
    they know.

    And when it is said to them, "Believe as the people have believed," they say, "Should we believe as the foolish have believed?" Unquestionably, it is they who are the foolish, but they know (it) not.
