Sura 2 Al-Baqarah (The Cow), ayah 206
-
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُ اتَّقِ اللَّهَ أَخَذَتْهُ الْعِزَّةُ بِالْإِثْمِ ۚ فَحَسْبُهُ جَهَنَّمُ ۚ وَلَبِئْسَ الْمِهَادُ
Translation by words
- وَإِذَا
- And when
- قِيلَ
- it is said
- لَهُ
- to him
- ٱتَّقِ
- "Fear
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah,"
- أَخَذَتْهُ
- takes him
- ٱلْعِزَّةُ
- (his) pride
- بِٱلْإِثْمِ
- to [the] sins.
- فَحَسْبُهُۥ
- Then enough for him
- جَهَنَّمُ
- (is) Hell -
- وَلَبِئْسَ
- [and] surely an evil
- ٱلْمِهَادُ
- [the] resting-place.
And when it is said to him, "Fear Allah," pride in the sin takes hold of him. Sufficient for him is Hellfire, and how wretched is the resting place.
