Sura 2 Al-Baqarah (The Cow), ayah 67

  1. وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَنْ تَذْبَحُوا بَقَرَةً ۖ قَالُوا أَتَتَّخِذُنَا هُزُوًا ۖ قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ الْجَاهِلِينَ

    Translation by words

    وَإِذْ
    And when
    قَالَ
    said
    مُوسَىٰ
    Musa
    لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ
    to his people,
    إِنَّ
    "Indeed,
    ٱللَّهَ
    Allah
    يَأْمُرُكُمْ
    commands you
    أَن
    that
    تَذْبَحُوا۟
    you slaughter
    بَقَرَةً
    a cow."
    قَالُوٓا۟
    They said,
    أَتَتَّخِذُنَا
    "Do you take us
    هُزُوًا
    (in) ridicule."
    قَالَ
    He said,
    أَعُوذُ
    "I seek refuge
    بِٱللَّهِ
    in Allah
    أَنْ
    that
    أَكُونَ
    I be
    مِنَ
    among
    ٱلْجَٰهِلِينَ
    the ignorant."

    And (recall) when Moses said to his people, "Indeed, Allah commands you to slaughter a cow." They said, "Do you take us in ridicule?" He said, "I seek refuge in Allah from being among the ignorant."
