Sura 33 Al-Ahzab (Those who took up arms), ayah 4

  1. مَا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لِرَجُلٍ مِنْ قَلْبَيْنِ فِي جَوْفِهِ ۚ وَمَا جَعَلَ أَزْوَاجَكُمُ اللَّائِي تُظَاهِرُونَ مِنْهُنَّ أُمَّهَاتِكُمْ ۚ وَمَا جَعَلَ أَدْعِيَاءَكُمْ أَبْنَاءَكُمْ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ قَوْلُكُمْ بِأَفْوَاهِكُمْ ۖ وَاللَّهُ يَقُولُ الْحَقَّ وَهُوَ يَهْدِي السَّبِيلَ

    Translation by words

    مَّا
    Not
    جَعَلَ
    Allah (has) made
    ٱللَّهُ
    Allah (has) made
    لِرَجُلٍ
    for any man
    مِّن
    [of]
    قَلْبَيْنِ
    two hearts
    فِى
    in
    جَوْفِهِۦ
    his interior.
    وَمَا
    And not
    جَعَلَ
    He (has) made
    أَزْوَٰجَكُمُ
    your wives
    ٱلَّٰٓـِٔى
    whom
    تُظَٰهِرُونَ
    you declare unlawful
    مِنْهُنَّ
    [of them]
    أُمَّهَٰتِكُمْ
    (as) your mothers.
    وَمَا
    And not
    جَعَلَ
    He has made
    أَدْعِيَآءَكُمْ
    your adopted sons
    أَبْنَآءَكُمْ
    your sons.
    ذَٰلِكُمْ
    That
    قَوْلُكُم
    (is) your saying
    بِأَفْوَٰهِكُمْ
    by your mouths,
    وَٱللَّهُ
    but Allah
    يَقُولُ
    says
    ٱلْحَقَّ
    the truth,
    وَهُوَ
    and He
    يَهْدِى
    guides
    ٱلسَّبِيلَ
    (to) the Way.

    Allah has not made for a man two hearts in his interior. And He has not made your wives whom you declare unlawful your mothers. And he has not made your adopted sons your (true) sons. That is (merely) your saying by your mouths, but Allah says the truth, and He guides to the (right) way.

    33:4
