Sura 38 Sad (The letter Saad), ayah 23

  1. إِنَّ هَٰذَا أَخِي لَهُ تِسْعٌ وَتِسْعُونَ نَعْجَةً وَلِيَ نَعْجَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ فَقَالَ أَكْفِلْنِيهَا وَعَزَّنِي فِي الْخِطَابِ

    Translation by words

    إِنَّ
    Indeed,
    هَٰذَآ
    this
    أَخِى
    (is) my brother,
    لَهُۥ
    he has
    تِسْعٌ
    ninety-nine
    وَتِسْعُونَ
    ninety-nine
    نَعْجَةً
    ewe(s)
    وَلِىَ
    while I have
    نَعْجَةٌ
    ewe
    وَٰحِدَةٌ
    one;
    فَقَالَ
    so he said,
    أَكْفِلْنِيهَا
    "Entrust her to me,"
    وَعَزَّنِى
    and he overpowered me
    فِى
    in
    ٱلْخِطَابِ
    [the] speech."

    Indeed this, my brother, has ninety-nine ewes, and I have one ewe; so he said, 'Entrust her to me,' and he overpowered me in speech."
