Sura 38 Sad (The letter Saad), ayah 75

  1. قَالَ يَا إِبْلِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ بِيَدَيَّ ۖ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الْعَالِينَ

    Translation by words

    قَالَ
    He said,
    يَٰٓإِبْلِيسُ
    "O Iblis!
    مَا
    What
    مَنَعَكَ
    prevented you
    أَن
    that
    تَسْجُدَ
    you (should) prostrate
    لِمَا
    to (one) whom
    خَلَقْتُ
    I created
    بِيَدَىَّ
    with My Hands?
    أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ
    Are you arrogant
    أَمْ
    or
    كُنتَ
    are you
    مِنَ
    of
    ٱلْعَالِينَ
    the exalted ones."

    (Allah) said, "O Iblees, what prevented you from prostrating to that which I created with My hands? Were you arrogant (then), or were you (already) among the haughty?"
