Sura 40 Ghafir (The Forgiver), ayah 68

1. هُوَ الَّذِي يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ ۖ فَإِذَا قَضَىٰ أَمْرًا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُ كُنْ فَيَكُونُ

   Translation by words

   هُوَ

   He

   ٱلَّذِى

   (is) the One Who

   يُحْىِۦ

   gives life

   وَيُمِيتُ

   and causes death.

   فَإِذَا

   And when

   قَضَىٰٓ

   He decrees

   أَمْرًا

   a matter,

   فَإِنَّمَا

   then only

   يَقُولُ

   He says

   لَهُۥ

   to it,

   كُن

   "Be,"

   فَيَكُونُ

   and it is.

   He it is who gives life and causes death; and when He decrees a matter, He but says to it, "Be," and it is.

   40:68

Translation: Saheeh International
