Sura 42 Ash-Shura (The Consultation), ayah 8

  1. وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَجَعَلَهُمْ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً وَلَٰكِنْ يُدْخِلُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ فِي رَحْمَتِهِ ۚ وَالظَّالِمُونَ مَا لَهُمْ مِنْ وَلِيٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ

    Translation by words

    وَلَوْ
    And if
    شَآءَ
    Allah willed,
    ٱللَّهُ
    Allah willed,
    لَجَعَلَهُمْ
    He could have made them
    أُمَّةً
    a community
    وَٰحِدَةً
    one,
    وَلَٰكِن
    but
    يُدْخِلُ
    He admits
    مَن
    whom
    يَشَآءُ
    He wills
    فِى
    in (to)
    رَحْمَتِهِۦ
    His Mercy.
    وَٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ
    And the wrongdoers,
    مَا
    not
    لَهُم
    for them
    مِّن
    any
    وَلِىٍّ
    protector
    وَلَا
    and not
    نَصِيرٍ
    any helper.

    And if Allah willed, He could have made them (of) one religion, but He admits whom He wills into His mercy. And the wrongdoers have not any protector or helper.

    42:8
