Sura 43 Az-Zukhruf (The Ornaments of gold), ayah 22

1. بَلْ قَالُوا إِنَّا وَجَدْنَا آبَاءَنَا عَلَىٰ أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰ آثَارِهِمْ مُهْتَدُونَ

   Translation by words

   بَلْ

   Nay,

   قَالُوٓا۟

   they say,

   إِنَّا

   "Indeed, we

   وَجَدْنَآ

   [we] found

   ءَابَآءَنَا

   our forefathers

   عَلَىٰٓ

   upon

   أُمَّةٍ

   a religion

   وَإِنَّا

   and indeed, we

   عَلَىٰٓ

   on

   ءَاثَٰرِهِم

   their footsteps

   مُّهْتَدُونَ

   (are) guided."

   Rather, they say, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are in their footsteps (rightly) guided."

   43:22
