Sura 43 Az-Zukhruf (The Ornaments of gold), ayah 23
-
وَكَذَٰلِكَ مَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ فِي قَرْيَةٍ مِنْ نَذِيرٍ إِلَّا قَالَ مُتْرَفُوهَا إِنَّا وَجَدْنَا آبَاءَنَا عَلَىٰ أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰ آثَارِهِمْ مُقْتَدُونَ
Translation by words
- وَكَذَٰلِكَ
- And thus
- مَآ
- not
- أَرْسَلْنَا
- We sent
- مِن
- before you
- قَبْلِكَ
- before you
- فِى
- in
- قَرْيَةٍ
- a town
- مِّن
- any
- نَّذِيرٍ
- warner
- إِلَّا
- except
- قَالَ
- said
- مُتْرَفُوهَآ
- (the) wealthy ones of it,
- إِنَّا
- "Indeed, we
- وَجَدْنَآ
- [we] found
- ءَابَآءَنَا
- our forefathers
- عَلَىٰٓ
- on
- أُمَّةٍ
- a religion,
- وَإِنَّا
- and indeed, we
- عَلَىٰٓ
- [on]
- ءَاثَٰرِهِم
- their footsteps
- مُّقْتَدُونَ
- (are) following."
And similarly, We did not send before you any warner into a city except that its affluent said, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are, in their footsteps, following."
43:23
