Sura 45 Al-Jathiyah (The Crouching), ayah 32
-
وَإِذَا قِيلَ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَالسَّاعَةُ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهَا قُلْتُمْ مَا نَدْرِي مَا السَّاعَةُ إِنْ نَظُنُّ إِلَّا ظَنًّا وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُسْتَيْقِنِينَ
Translation by words
- وَإِذَا
- And when
- قِيلَ
- it was said,
- إِنَّ
- "Indeed
- وَعْدَ
- (the) Promise
- ٱللَّهِ
- (of) Allah
- حَقٌّ
- (is) true
- وَٱلسَّاعَةُ
- and the Hour -
- لَا
- (there is) no
- رَيْبَ
- doubt
- فِيهَا
- about it,
- قُلْتُم
- you said,
- مَّا
- "Not
- نَدْرِى
- we know
- مَا
- what
- ٱلسَّاعَةُ
- the Hour (is).
- إِن
- Not
- نَّظُنُّ
- we think
- إِلَّا
- except
- ظَنًّا
- an assumption,
- وَمَا
- and not
- نَحْنُ
- we
- بِمُسْتَيْقِنِينَ
- (are) convinced."
And when it was said, 'Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth and the Hour (is coming) - no doubt about it,' you said, 'We know not what is the Hour. We assume only assumption, and we are not convinced.' "
