Sura 57 Al-Hadid (The Iron), ayah 10

  1. وَمَا لَكُمْ أَلَّا تُنْفِقُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَلِلَّهِ مِيرَاثُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ لَا يَسْتَوِي مِنْكُمْ مَنْ أَنْفَقَ مِنْ قَبْلِ الْفَتْحِ وَقَاتَلَ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ أَعْظَمُ دَرَجَةً مِنَ الَّذِينَ أَنْفَقُوا مِنْ بَعْدُ وَقَاتَلُوا ۚ وَكُلًّا وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ

    Translation by words

    وَمَا
    And what
    لَكُمْ
    (is) for you
    أَلَّا
    that not
    تُنفِقُوا۟
    you spend
    فِى
    in
    سَبِيلِ
    (the) way
    ٱللَّهِ
    (of) Allah?
    وَلِلَّهِ
    while for Allah
    مِيرَٰثُ
    (is the) heritage
    ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
    (of) the heavens
    وَٱلْأَرْضِ
    and the earth?
    لَا
    Not
    يَسْتَوِى
    are equal
    مِنكُم
    among you
    مَّنْ
    (those) who
    أَنفَقَ
    spent
    مِن
    before
    قَبْلِ
    before
    ٱلْفَتْحِ
    the victory
    وَقَٰتَلَ
    and fought.
    أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
    Those
    أَعْظَمُ
    (are) greater
    دَرَجَةً
    (in) degree
    مِّنَ
    than
    ٱلَّذِينَ
    those who
    أَنفَقُوا۟
    spent
    مِنۢ
    afterwards
    بَعْدُ
    afterwards
    وَقَٰتَلُوا۟
    and fought.
    وَكُلًّا
    But to all,
    وَعَدَ
    Allah has promised
    ٱللَّهُ
    Allah has promised
    ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ
    the best.
    وَٱللَّهُ
    And Allah
    بِمَا
    of what
    تَعْمَلُونَ
    you do
    خَبِيرٌ
    (is) All-Aware.

    And why do you not spend in the cause of Allah while to Allah belongs the heritage of the heavens and the earth? Not equal among you are those who spent before the conquest (of Makkah) and fought (and those who did so after it). Those are greater in degree than they who spent afterwards and fought. But to all Allah has promised the best (reward). And Allah, with what you do, is Acquainted.

    57:10
