Sura 57 Al-Hadid (The Iron), ayah 14

  1. يُنَادُونَهُمْ أَلَمْ نَكُنْ مَعَكُمْ ۖ قَالُوا بَلَىٰ وَلَٰكِنَّكُمْ فَتَنْتُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ وَتَرَبَّصْتُمْ وَارْتَبْتُمْ وَغَرَّتْكُمُ الْأَمَانِيُّ حَتَّىٰ جَاءَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ وَغَرَّكُمْ بِاللَّهِ الْغَرُورُ

    Translation by words

    يُنَادُونَهُمْ
    They will call them,
    أَلَمْ
    "Were not
    نَكُن
    we
    مَّعَكُمْ
    with you?"
    قَالُوا۟
    They will say,
    بَلَىٰ
    "Yes,
    وَلَٰكِنَّكُمْ
    but you
    فَتَنتُمْ
    led to temptation
    أَنفُسَكُمْ
    yourselves
    وَتَرَبَّصْتُمْ
    and you awaited
    وَٱرْتَبْتُمْ
    and you doubted
    وَغَرَّتْكُمُ
    and deceived you
    ٱلْأَمَانِىُّ
    the wishful thinking
    حَتَّىٰ
    until
    جَآءَ
    came
    أَمْرُ
    (the) Command
    ٱللَّهِ
    (of) Allah.
    وَغَرَّكُم
    And deceived you
    بِٱللَّهِ
    about Allah
    ٱلْغَرُورُ
    the deceiver.

    The hypocrites will call to the believers, "Were we not with you?" They will say, "Yes, but you afflicted yourselves and awaited (misfortune for us) and doubted, and wishful thinking deluded you until there came the command of Allah. And the Deceiver deceived you concerning Allah.
