Sura 5 Al-Ma'idah (The Table Spread), ayah 90

  1. يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنَّمَا الْخَمْرُ وَالْمَيْسِرُ وَالْأَنْصَابُ وَالْأَزْلَامُ رِجْسٌ مِنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطَانِ فَاجْتَنِبُوهُ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ

    Translation by words

    يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
    O you
    ٱلَّذِينَ
    who
    ءَامَنُوٓا۟
    believe!
    إِنَّمَا
    Verily
    ٱلْخَمْرُ
    the intoxicants
    وَٱلْمَيْسِرُ
    and [the] games of chance
    وَٱلْأَنصَابُ
    and (sacrifices at) altars
    وَٱلْأَزْلَٰمُ
    and divining arrows
    رِجْسٌ
    (are an) abomination
    مِّنْ
    from
    عَمَلِ
    (the) work
    ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ
    (of) the Shaitaan,
    فَٱجْتَنِبُوهُ
    so avoid it
    لَعَلَّكُمْ
    so that you may
    تُفْلِحُونَ
    (be) successful.

    O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, (sacrificing on) stone alters (to other than Allah), and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.
