Sura 66 At-Tahrim (The Prohibition), ayah 10
-
ضَرَبَ اللَّهُ مَثَلًا لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا امْرَأَتَ نُوحٍ وَامْرَأَتَ لُوطٍ ۖ كَانَتَا تَحْتَ عَبْدَيْنِ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا صَالِحَيْنِ فَخَانَتَاهُمَا فَلَمْ يُغْنِيَا عَنْهُمَا مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا وَقِيلَ ادْخُلَا النَّارَ مَعَ الدَّاخِلِينَ
Translation by words
- ضَرَبَ
- Presents
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- مَثَلًا
- an example
- لِّلَّذِينَ
- for those who
- كَفَرُوا۟
- disbelieved -
- ٱمْرَأَتَ
- (the) wife
- نُوحٍ
- (of) Nuh
- وَٱمْرَأَتَ
- (and the) wife
- لُوطٍ
- (of) Lut.
- كَانَتَا
- They were
- تَحْتَ
- under
- عَبْدَيْنِ
- two [slaves]
- مِنْ
- of
- عِبَادِنَا
- Our slaves
- صَٰلِحَيْنِ
- righteous,
- فَخَانَتَاهُمَا
- but they both betrayed them,
- فَلَمْ
- so not
- يُغْنِيَا
- they availed,
- عَنْهُمَا
- both of them,
- مِنَ
- from
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- شَيْـًٔا
- (in) anything,
- وَقِيلَ
- and it was said,
- ٱدْخُلَا
- "Enter
- ٱلنَّارَ
- the Fire
- مَعَ
- with
- ٱلدَّٰخِلِينَ
- those who enter."
Allah presents an example of those who disbelieved: the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot. They were under two of Our righteous servants but betrayed them, so those prophets did not avail them from Allah at all, and it was said, "Enter the Fire with those who enter."
66:10
