Sura 66 At-Tahrim (The Prohibition), ayah 3
-
وَإِذْ أَسَرَّ النَّبِيُّ إِلَىٰ بَعْضِ أَزْوَاجِهِ حَدِيثًا فَلَمَّا نَبَّأَتْ بِهِ وَأَظْهَرَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ عَرَّفَ بَعْضَهُ وَأَعْرَضَ عَنْ بَعْضٍ ۖ فَلَمَّا نَبَّأَهَا بِهِ قَالَتْ مَنْ أَنْبَأَكَ هَٰذَا ۖ قَالَ نَبَّأَنِيَ الْعَلِيمُ الْخَبِيرُ
Translation by words
- وَإِذْ
- And when
- أَسَرَّ
- confided
- ٱلنَّبِىُّ
- the Prophet
- إِلَىٰ
- to
- بَعْضِ
- one
- أَزْوَٰجِهِۦ
- (of) his wives
- حَدِيثًا
- a statement,
- فَلَمَّا
- and when
- نَبَّأَتْ
- she informed
- بِهِۦ
- about it
- وَأَظْهَرَهُ
- and made it apparent
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- عَلَيْهِ
- to him,
- عَرَّفَ
- he made known
- بَعْضَهُۥ
- a part of it
- وَأَعْرَضَ
- and avoided
- عَنۢ
- [of]
- بَعْضٍ
- a part.
- فَلَمَّا
- Then when
- نَبَّأَهَا
- he informed her
- بِهِۦ
- about it,
- قَالَتْ
- she said,
- مَنْ
- "Who
- أَنۢبَأَكَ
- informed you
- هَٰذَا
- this?"
- قَالَ
- He said,
- نَبَّأَنِىَ
- "Has informed me
- ٱلْعَلِيمُ
- the All-Knower,
- ٱلْخَبِيرُ
- the All-Aware."
And (remember) when the Prophet confided to one of his wives a statement; and when she informed (another) of it and Allah showed it to him, he made known part of it and ignored a part. And when he informed her about it, she said, "Who told you this?" He said, "I was informed by the Knowing, the Acquainted."
66:3
