Sura 9 At-Tawbah (The Repentance), ayah 17
-
مَا كَانَ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ أَنْ يَعْمُرُوا مَسَاجِدَ اللَّهِ شَاهِدِينَ عَلَىٰ أَنْفُسِهِمْ بِالْكُفْرِ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ وَفِي النَّارِ هُمْ خَالِدُونَ
Translation by words
- مَا
- (It) is not
- كَانَ
- (It) is not
- لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ
- for the polytheists
- أَن
- that
- يَعْمُرُوا۟
- they maintain
- مَسَٰجِدَ
- (the) masajid of Allah
- ٱللَّهِ
- (the) masajid of Allah
- شَٰهِدِينَ
- (while) witnessing
- عَلَىٰٓ
- against
- أَنفُسِهِم
- themselves
- بِٱلْكُفْرِ
- [with] disbelief.
- أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
- (For) those,
- حَبِطَتْ
- worthless
- أَعْمَٰلُهُمْ
- (are) their deeds,
- وَفِى
- and in
- ٱلنَّارِ
- the Fire
- هُمْ
- they
- خَٰلِدُونَ
- (will) abide forever.
It is not for the polytheists to maintain the mosques of Allah (while) witnessing against themselves with disbelief. (For) those, their deeds have become worthless, and in the Fire they will abide eternally.
9:17
Translation: Saheeh International
