Sura 9 At-Tawbah (The Repentance), ayah 59

  1. وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ رَضُوا مَا آتَاهُمُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ وَقَالُوا حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ سَيُؤْتِينَا اللَّهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ وَرَسُولُهُ إِنَّا إِلَى اللَّهِ رَاغِبُونَ

    Translation by words

    وَلَوْ
    And if
    أَنَّهُمْ
    [that] they
    رَضُوا۟
    (were) satisfied
    مَآ
    (with) what
    ءَاتَىٰهُمُ
    Allah gave them
    ٱللَّهُ
    Allah gave them
    وَرَسُولُهُۥ
    and His Messenger,
    وَقَالُوا۟
    and said,
    حَسْبُنَا
    "Sufficient for us
    ٱللَّهُ
    (is) Allah,
    سَيُؤْتِينَا
    Allah will give us
    ٱللَّهُ
    Allah will give us
    مِن
    of
    فَضْلِهِۦ
    His Bounty
    وَرَسُولُهُۥٓ
    and His Messenger.
    إِنَّآ
    Indeed, we
    إِلَى
    to
    ٱللَّهِ
    Allah
    رَٰغِبُونَ
    turn our hopes."

    If only they had been satisfied with what Allah and His Messenger gave them and said, "Sufficient for us is Allah; Allah will give us of His bounty, and (so will) His Messenger; indeed, we are desirous toward Allah," (it would have been better for them).
