1. كَلَّا إِنَّ كِتَابَ الْفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّينٍ

   No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen.

   83:7

2. وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ

   And what can make you know what is sijjeen?

   83:8

3. كِتَابٌ مَرْقُومٌ

   It is (their destination recorded in) a register inscribed.

   83:9

4. وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

   Woe, that Day, to the deniers,

   83:10

5. الَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ

   Who deny the Day of Recompense.

   83:11

6. وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ

   And none deny it except every sinful transgressor.

   83:12

7. إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

   When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples."

   83:13

8. كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ مَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ

   No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning.

   83:14

9. كَلَّا إِنَّهُمْ عَنْ رَبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَمَحْجُوبُونَ

   No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned.

   83:15

10. ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُو الْجَحِيمِ

    Then indeed, they will (enter and) burn in Hellfire.

    83:16

11. ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَٰذَا الَّذِي كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ

    Then it will be said (to them), "This is what you used to deny."

    83:17

12. كَلَّا إِنَّ كِتَابَ الْأَبْرَارِ لَفِي عِلِّيِّينَ

    No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun.

    83:18

13. وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ

    And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun?

    83:19

14. كِتَابٌ مَرْقُومٌ

    It is (their destination recorded in) a register inscribed

    83:20

15. يَشْهَدُهُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ

    Which is witnessed by those brought near (to Allah).

    83:21

16. إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ

    Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure

    83:22

17. عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ يَنْظُرُونَ

    On adorned couches, observing.

    83:23

18. تَعْرِفُ فِي وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ النَّعِيمِ

    You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure.

    83:24

19. يُسْقَوْنَ مِنْ رَحِيقٍ مَخْتُومٍ

    They will be given to drink (pure) wine (which was) sealed.

    83:25

20. خِتَامُهُ مِسْكٌ ۚ وَفِي ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ الْمُتَنَافِسُونَ

    The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete.

    83:26

21. وَمِزَاجُهُ مِنْ تَسْنِيمٍ

    And its mixture is of Tasneem,

    83:27

22. عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا الْمُقَرَّبُونَ

    A spring from which those near (to Allah) drink.

    83:28

23. إِنَّ الَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا كَانُوا مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يَضْحَكُونَ

    Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.

    83:29

24. وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ

    And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances.

    83:30

25. وَإِذَا انْقَلَبُوا إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِمُ انْقَلَبُوا فَكِهِينَ

    And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting.

    83:31

26. وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوا إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ لَضَالُّونَ

    And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost."

    83:32

27. وَمَا أُرْسِلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ حَافِظِينَ

    But they had not been sent as guardians over them.

    83:33

28. فَالْيَوْمَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنَ الْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ

    So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers,

    83:34
