Sura 12 Yusuf (Joseph), ayah 42
-
وَقَالَ لِلَّذِي ظَنَّ أَنَّهُ نَاجٍ مِنْهُمَا اذْكُرْنِي عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ فَأَنْسَاهُ الشَّيْطَانُ ذِكْرَ رَبِّهِ فَلَبِثَ فِي السِّجْنِ بِضْعَ سِنِينَ
Translation by words
- وَقَالَ
- And he said
- لِلَّذِى
- to the one whom
- ظَنَّ
- he thought
- أَنَّهُۥ
- that he
- نَاجٍ
- (would be) saved
- مِّنْهُمَا
- of both of them,
- ٱذْكُرْنِى
- "Mention me
- عِندَ
- to
- رَبِّكَ
- your master."
- فَأَنسَىٰهُ
- But made him forget
- ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ
- the Shaitaan
- ذِكْرَ
- (the) mention
- رَبِّهِۦ
- (to) his master,
- فَلَبِثَ
- so he remained
- فِى
- in
- ٱلسِّجْنِ
- the prison
- بِضْعَ
- several
- سِنِينَ
- years.
And he said to the one whom he knew would go free, "Mention me before your master." But Satan made him forget the mention (to) his master, and Joseph remained in prison several years.
