Sura 18 Al-Kahf (The Cave), ayah 17

  1. وَتَرَى الشَّمْسَ إِذَا طَلَعَتْ تَزَاوَرُ عَنْ كَهْفِهِمْ ذَاتَ الْيَمِينِ وَإِذَا غَرَبَتْ تَقْرِضُهُمْ ذَاتَ الشِّمَالِ وَهُمْ فِي فَجْوَةٍ مِنْهُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ ۗ مَنْ يَهْدِ اللَّهُ فَهُوَ الْمُهْتَدِ ۖ وَمَنْ يُضْلِلْ فَلَنْ تَجِدَ لَهُ وَلِيًّا مُرْشِدًا

    Translation by words

    وَتَرَى
    And you (might) have seen
    ٱلشَّمْسَ
    the sun,
    إِذَا
    when
    طَلَعَت
    it rose,
    تَّزَٰوَرُ
    inclining away
    عَن
    from
    كَهْفِهِمْ
    their cave
    ذَاتَ
    to
    ٱلْيَمِينِ
    the right,
    وَإِذَا
    and when
    غَرَبَت
    it set,
    تَّقْرِضُهُمْ
    passing away from them
    ذَاتَ
    to
    ٱلشِّمَالِ
    the left
    وَهُمْ
    while they
    فِى
    (lay) in
    فَجْوَةٍ
    the open space
    مِّنْهُ
    thereof.
    ذَٰلِكَ
    That
    مِنْ
    (was) from
    ءَايَٰتِ
    (the) Signs
    ٱللَّهِ
    (of) Allah.
    مَن
    Whoever
    يَهْدِ
    Allah guides
    ٱللَّهُ
    Allah guides
    فَهُوَ
    and he
    ٱلْمُهْتَدِ
    (is) the guided one,
    وَمَن
    and whoever
    يُضْلِلْ
    He lets go astray
    فَلَن
    then never
    تَجِدَ
    you will find
    لَهُۥ
    for him
    وَلِيًّا
    a protector,
    مُّرْشِدًا
    a guide.

    And (had you been present), you would see the sun when it rose, inclining away from their cave on the right, and when it set, passing away from them on the left, while they were (laying) within an open space thereof. That was from the signs of Allah. He whom Allah guides is the (rightly) guided, but he whom He leaves astray - never will you find for him a protecting guide.
