Sura 18 Al-Kahf (The Cave), ayah 6

  1. فَلَعَلَّكَ بَاخِعٌ نَفْسَكَ عَلَىٰ آثَارِهِمْ إِنْ لَمْ يُؤْمِنُوا بِهَٰذَا الْحَدِيثِ أَسَفًا

    Translation by words

    فَلَعَلَّكَ
    Then perhaps you would (be)
    بَٰخِعٌ
    the one who kills
    نَّفْسَكَ
    yourself
    عَلَىٰٓ
    over
    ءَاثَٰرِهِمْ
    their footsteps,
    إِن
    if
    لَّمْ
    not
    يُؤْمِنُوا۟
    they believe
    بِهَٰذَا
    in this
    ٱلْحَدِيثِ
    [the] narration,
    أَسَفًا
    (in) grief.

    Then perhaps you would kill yourself through grief over them, (O Muhammad), if they do not believe in this message, (and) out of sorrow.

    18:6
