Sura 19 Maryam, ayah 8

1. قَالَ رَبِّ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لِي غُلَامٌ وَكَانَتِ امْرَأَتِي عَاقِرًا وَقَدْ بَلَغْتُ مِنَ الْكِبَرِ عِتِيًّا

   Translation by words

   قَالَ

   He said,

   رَبِّ

   "My Lord!

   أَنَّىٰ

   How

   يَكُونُ

   can

   لِى

   I have

   غُلَٰمٌ

   a boy,

   وَكَانَتِ

   while is

   ٱمْرَأَتِى

   my wife

   عَاقِرًا

   barren,

   وَقَدْ

   and indeed,

   بَلَغْتُ

   I have reached

   مِنَ

   of

   ٱلْكِبَرِ

   the old age

   عِتِيًّا

   extreme?"

   He said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when my wife has been barren and I have reached extreme old age?"

   19:8
