Sura 23 Al-Mu'minun (The Believers), ayah 76

1. وَلَقَدْ أَخَذْنَاهُمْ بِالْعَذَابِ فَمَا اسْتَكَانُوا لِرَبِّهِمْ وَمَا يَتَضَرَّعُونَ

   Translation by words

   وَلَقَدْ

   And verily

   أَخَذْنَٰهُم

   We seized them

   بِٱلْعَذَابِ

   with the punishment

   فَمَا

   but not

   ٱسْتَكَانُوا۟

   they submit

   لِرَبِّهِمْ

   to their Lord

   وَمَا

   and not

   يَتَضَرَّعُونَ

   they supplicate humbly

   And We had gripped them with suffering (as a warning), but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, (and will continue thus)
