Sura 24 An-Nur (The Light), ayah 21

  1. يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَتَّبِعُوا خُطُوَاتِ الشَّيْطَانِ ۚ وَمَنْ يَتَّبِعْ خُطُوَاتِ الشَّيْطَانِ فَإِنَّهُ يَأْمُرُ بِالْفَحْشَاءِ وَالْمُنْكَرِ ۚ وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُ مَا زَكَىٰ مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ أَبَدًا وَلَٰكِنَّ اللَّهَ يُزَكِّي مَنْ يَشَاءُ ۗ وَاللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ

    Translation by words

    يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
    O you who believe!
    ٱلَّذِينَ
    O you who believe!
    ءَامَنُوا۟
    O you who believe!
    لَا
    (Do) not
    تَتَّبِعُوا۟
    follow
    خُطُوَٰتِ
    (the) footsteps
    ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ
    (of) the Shaitaan,
    وَمَن
    and whoever
    يَتَّبِعْ
    follows
    خُطُوَٰتِ
    (the) footsteps
    ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ
    (of) the Shaitaan
    فَإِنَّهُۥ
    then indeed, he
    يَأْمُرُ
    commands
    بِٱلْفَحْشَآءِ
    the immorality
    وَٱلْمُنكَرِ
    and the evil.
    وَلَوْلَا
    And if not
    فَضْلُ
    (for the) Grace of Allah
    ٱللَّهِ
    (for the) Grace of Allah
    عَلَيْكُمْ
    upon you
    وَرَحْمَتُهُۥ
    and His Mercy
    مَا
    not
    زَكَىٰ
    (would) have been pure
    مِنكُم
    among you
    مِّنْ
    anyone
    أَحَدٍ
    anyone
    أَبَدًا
    ever,
    وَلَٰكِنَّ
    but
    ٱللَّهَ
    Allah
    يُزَكِّى
    purifies
    مَن
    whom
    يَشَآءُ
    He wills.
    وَٱللَّهُ
    And Allah
    سَمِيعٌ
    (is) All-Hearer,
    عَلِيمٌ
    All-Knower.

    O you who have believed, do not follow the footsteps of Satan. And whoever follows the footsteps of Satan - indeed, he enjoins immorality and wrongdoing. And if not for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy, not one of you would have been pure, ever, but Allah purifies whom He wills, and Allah is Hearing and Knowing.
