Sura 25 Al-Furqan (The Criterion), ayah 21
-
وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَاءَنَا لَوْلَا أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْنَا الْمَلَائِكَةُ أَوْ نَرَىٰ رَبَّنَا ۗ لَقَدِ اسْتَكْبَرُوا فِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ وَعَتَوْا عُتُوًّا كَبِيرًا
Translation by words
- وَقَالَ
- And said
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- لَا
- (do) not
- يَرْجُونَ
- expect
- لِقَآءَنَا
- (the) meeting with Us,
- لَوْلَآ
- "Why not
- أُنزِلَ
- are sent down
- عَلَيْنَا
- to us
- ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ
- the Angels
- أَوْ
- or
- نَرَىٰ
- we see
- رَبَّنَا
- our Lord?"
- لَقَدِ
- Indeed,
- ٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟
- they have become arrogant
- فِىٓ
- within
- أَنفُسِهِمْ
- themselves
- وَعَتَوْ
- and (become) insolent
- عُتُوًّا
- (with) insolence
- كَبِيرًا
- great.
And those who do not expect the meeting with Us say, "Why were not angels sent down to us, or (why) do we (not) see our Lord?" They have certainly become arrogant within themselves and (become) insolent with great insolence.
25:21
