Sura 27 An-Naml (The Ant), ayah 46

  1. قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لِمَ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ قَبْلَ الْحَسَنَةِ ۖ لَوْلَا تَسْتَغْفِرُونَ اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ

    Translation by words

    قَالَ
    He said,
    يَٰقَوْمِ
    "O my people!
    لِمَ
    Why
    تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
    (do) you seek to hasten
    بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ
    the evil
    قَبْلَ
    before
    ٱلْحَسَنَةِ
    the good?
    لَوْلَا
    Why not
    تَسْتَغْفِرُونَ
    you ask forgiveness
    ٱللَّهَ
    (of) Allah
    لَعَلَّكُمْ
    so that you may
    تُرْحَمُونَ
    receive mercy?"

    He said, "O my people, why are you impatient for evil instead of good? Why do you not seek forgiveness of Allah that you may receive mercy?"
