Sura 2 Al-Baqarah (The Cow), ayah 256

  1. لَا إِكْرَاهَ فِي الدِّينِ ۖ قَدْ تَبَيَّنَ الرُّشْدُ مِنَ الْغَيِّ ۚ فَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِالطَّاغُوتِ وَيُؤْمِنْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدِ اسْتَمْسَكَ بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوُثْقَىٰ لَا انْفِصَامَ لَهَا ۗ وَاللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ

    Translation by words

    لَآ
    (There is) no
    إِكْرَاهَ
    compulsion
    فِى
    in
    ٱلدِّينِ
    the religion.
    قَد
    Surely
    تَّبَيَّنَ
    has become distinct
    ٱلرُّشْدُ
    the right (path)
    مِنَ
    from
    ٱلْغَىِّ
    the wrong.
    فَمَن
    Then whoever
    يَكْفُرْ
    disbelieves
    بِٱلطَّٰغُوتِ
    in false deities
    وَيُؤْمِنۢ
    and believes
    بِٱللَّهِ
    in Allah,
    فَقَدِ
    then surely
    ٱسْتَمْسَكَ
    he grasped
    بِٱلْعُرْوَةِ
    the handhold -
    ٱلْوُثْقَىٰ
    [the] firm,
    لَا
    (which) not
    ٱنفِصَامَ
    (will) break
    لَهَا
    [for it].
    وَٱللَّهُ
    And Allah
    سَمِيعٌ
    (is) All-Hearing,
    عَلِيمٌ
    All-Knowing.

There shall be no compulsion in (acceptance of) the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.
