Sura 33 Al-Ahzab (Those who took up arms), ayah 15

  1. وَلَقَدْ كَانُوا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ مِنْ قَبْلُ لَا يُوَلُّونَ الْأَدْبَارَ ۚ وَكَانَ عَهْدُ اللَّهِ مَسْئُولًا

    Translation by words

    وَلَقَدْ
    And certainly
    كَانُوا۟
    they had
    عَٰهَدُوا۟
    promised
    ٱللَّهَ
    Allah
    مِن
    before,
    قَبْلُ
    before,
    لَا
    not
    يُوَلُّونَ
    they would turn
    ٱلْأَدْبَٰرَ
    their backs.
    وَكَانَ
    And is
    عَهْدُ
    (the) promise
    ٱللَّهِ
    (to) Allah
    مَسْـُٔولًا
    to be questioned.

    And they had already promised Allah before not to turn their backs and flee. And ever is the promise to Allah (that about which one will be) questioned.
