Sura 48 Al-Fath (The Victory), ayah 16

  1. قُلْ لِلْمُخَلَّفِينَ مِنَ الْأَعْرَابِ سَتُدْعَوْنَ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ أُولِي بَأْسٍ شَدِيدٍ تُقَاتِلُونَهُمْ أَوْ يُسْلِمُونَ ۖ فَإِنْ تُطِيعُوا يُؤْتِكُمُ اللَّهُ أَجْرًا حَسَنًا ۖ وَإِنْ تَتَوَلَّوْا كَمَا تَوَلَّيْتُمْ مِنْ قَبْلُ يُعَذِّبْكُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا

    Translation by words

    قُل
    Say
    لِّلْمُخَلَّفِينَ
    to those who remained behind
    مِنَ
    of
    ٱلْأَعْرَابِ
    the Bedouins,
    سَتُدْعَوْنَ
    "You will be called
    إِلَىٰ
    to
    قَوْمٍ
    a people,
    أُو۟لِى
    possessors of military might
    بَأْسٍ
    possessors of military might
    شَدِيدٍ
    great;
    تُقَٰتِلُونَهُمْ
    you will fight them,
    أَوْ
    or
    يُسْلِمُونَ
    they will submit.
    فَإِن
    Then if
    تُطِيعُوا۟
    you obey,
    يُؤْتِكُمُ
    Allah will give you
    ٱللَّهُ
    Allah will give you
    أَجْرًا
    a reward
    حَسَنًا
    good;
    وَإِن
    but if
    تَتَوَلَّوْا۟
    you turn away
    كَمَا
    as
    تَوَلَّيْتُم
    you turned away
    مِّن
    before,
    قَبْلُ
    before,
    يُعَذِّبْكُمْ
    He will punish you
    عَذَابًا
    (with) a punishment
    أَلِيمًا
    painful."

    Say to those who remained behind of the bedouins, "You will be called to (face) a people of great military might; you may fight them, or they will submit. So if you obey, Allah will give you a good reward; but if you turn away as you turned away before, He will punish you with a painful punishment."
