Sura 4 An-Nisa (The Women), ayah 22

  1. وَلَا تَنْكِحُوا مَا نَكَحَ آبَاؤُكُمْ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ إِلَّا مَا قَدْ سَلَفَ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ فَاحِشَةً وَمَقْتًا وَسَاءَ سَبِيلًا

    Translation by words

    وَلَا
    And (do) not
    تَنكِحُوا۟
    marry
    مَا
    whom
    نَكَحَ
    married
    ءَابَآؤُكُم
    your fathers
    مِّنَ
    of
    ٱلنِّسَآءِ
    the women
    إِلَّا
    except
    مَا
    what
    قَدْ
    has
    سَلَفَ
    passed before,
    إِنَّهُۥ
    indeed it
    كَانَ
    was
    فَٰحِشَةً
    an immorality
    وَمَقْتًا
    and hateful,
    وَسَآءَ
    and (an) evil
    سَبِيلًا
    way.

    And do not marry those (women) whom your fathers married, except what has already occurred. Indeed, it was an immorality and hateful (to Allah) and was evil as a way.
