Sura 59 Al-Hashr (The Exile), ayah 21

  1. لَوْ أَنْزَلْنَا هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ عَلَىٰ جَبَلٍ لَرَأَيْتَهُ خَاشِعًا مُتَصَدِّعًا مِنْ خَشْيَةِ اللَّهِ ۚ وَتِلْكَ الْأَمْثَالُ نَضْرِبُهَا لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

    Translation by words

    لَوْ
    If
    أَنزَلْنَا
    We (had) sent down
    هَٰذَا
    this
    ٱلْقُرْءَانَ
    Quran
    عَلَىٰ
    on
    جَبَلٍ
    a mountain,
    لَّرَأَيْتَهُۥ
surely you (would) have seen it
    خَٰشِعًا
    humbled,
    مُّتَصَدِّعًا
    breaking asunder
    مِّنْ
    from
    خَشْيَةِ
    (the) fear
    ٱللَّهِ
    (of) Allah.
    وَتِلْكَ
    And these
    ٱلْأَمْثَٰلُ
    examples,
    نَضْرِبُهَا
    We present them
    لِلنَّاسِ
    to the people
    لَعَلَّهُمْ
    so that they may
    يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
    give thought.

If We had sent down this Qur'an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah. And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought.
