Sura 59 Al-Hashr (The Exile), ayah 5

  1. مَا قَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ لِينَةٍ أَوْ تَرَكْتُمُوهَا قَائِمَةً عَلَىٰ أُصُولِهَا فَبِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ وَلِيُخْزِيَ الْفَاسِقِينَ

    Translation by words

    مَا
    Whatever
    قَطَعْتُم
    you cut down
    مِّن
    of
    لِّينَةٍ
    (the) palm-trees
    أَوْ
    or
    تَرَكْتُمُوهَا
    you left them
    قَآئِمَةً
    standing
    عَلَىٰٓ
    on
    أُصُولِهَا
    their roots,
    فَبِإِذْنِ
    it (was) by the permission
    ٱللَّهِ
    (of) Allah,
    وَلِيُخْزِىَ
    and that He may disgrace
    ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ
    the defiantly disobedient.

    Whatever you have cut down of (their) palm trees or left standing on their trunks - it was by permission of Allah and so He would disgrace the defiantly disobedient.
