Sura 7 Al-A'raf (The Heights), ayah 95
-
ثُمَّ بَدَّلْنَا مَكَانَ السَّيِّئَةِ الْحَسَنَةَ حَتَّىٰ عَفَوْا وَقَالُوا قَدْ مَسَّ آبَاءَنَا الضَّرَّاءُ وَالسَّرَّاءُ فَأَخَذْنَاهُمْ بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ
Translation by words
- ثُمَّ
- Then
- بَدَّلْنَا
- We changed
- مَكَانَ
- (in) place
- ٱلسَّيِّئَةِ
- (of) the bad
- ٱلْحَسَنَةَ
- the good,
- حَتَّىٰ
- until
- عَفَوا۟
- they increased
- وَّقَالُوا۟
- and said,
- قَدْ
- "Verily,
- مَسَّ
- (had) touched
- ءَابَآءَنَا
- our forefathers
- ٱلضَّرَّآءُ
- the adversity
- وَٱلسَّرَّآءُ
- and the ease."
- فَأَخَذْنَٰهُم
- So We seized them
- بَغْتَةً
- suddenly,
- وَهُمْ
- while they
- لَا
- (did) not
- يَشْعُرُونَ
- perceive.
Then We exchanged in place of the bad (condition), good, until they increased (and prospered) and said, "Our fathers (also) were touched with hardship and ease." So We seized them suddenly while they did not perceive.
