Hamza has two kinds: dividing and connecting.
Dividing Hamza (arabic. همزة قطع) is written and always pronounced as in the word يَأۡكُلُونَ or قَدۡ يَئِسُواْ.

In a definite article, the letter ل has two types: lunar and solar.
Lunar letter ل (arabic.لَام قَمَرية ) is written and pronounced, and the next letter is not doubled, as in ٱلۡبُيُوتَ
Solar ل is written but not pronounced, and the next letter is doubled , as in ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ
