Sura 46 Al-Ahqaf (The Wind - Curved Sandhills), ayah 24
-
فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ عَارِضًا مُسْتَقْبِلَ أَوْدِيَتِهِمْ قَالُوا هَٰذَا عَارِضٌ مُمْطِرُنَا ۚ بَلْ هُوَ مَا اسْتَعْجَلْتُمْ بِهِ ۖ رِيحٌ فِيهَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
Translation by words
- فَلَمَّا
- Then when
- رَأَوْهُ
- they saw it
- عَارِضًا
- (as) a cloud
- مُّسْتَقْبِلَ
- approaching
- أَوْدِيَتِهِمْ
- their valleys,
- قَالُوا۟
- they said,
- هَٰذَا
- "This
- عَارِضٌ
- (is) a cloud
- مُّمْطِرُنَا
- bringing us rain."
- بَلْ
- Nay,
- هُوَ
- it
- مَا
- (is) what
- ٱسْتَعْجَلْتُم
- you were asking it to be hastened,
- بِهِۦ
- you were asking it to be hastened,
- رِيحٌ
- a wind
- فِيهَا
- in it
- عَذَابٌ
- (is) a punishment
- أَلِيمٌ
- painful,
And when they saw it as a cloud approaching their valleys, they said, "This is a cloud bringing us rain!" Rather, it is that for which you were impatient: a wind, within it a painful punishment,
